CEO Connects with Community

Each year I receive hundreds of emails and letters from residents and their family members, singing the praises of LSS staff and how you have changed their lives for the better. Over the last several years I have been spending more time out at our communities, to get a closer look at how staff members are daily making a difference in the lives of those we serve and carrying out our Christian Core Values. Recently, I had the privilege to visit with both residents and staff at Laclede Groves and Lenoir Woods and came away both humbled and honored to have witnessed their relationships and hearts of service.

First, let me say that Laclede Groves sure knows how to throw a party! In celebration of Octoberfest, I dressed in “lederhosen,” donned an Alpine Bavarian hat, and had the opportunity to help serve a German-style feast. I talked with many residents and their family members. Each said something to me about how welcoming they have always felt at Laclede Groves.

On a separate occasion at Lenoir Woods, I worked as a Receptionist at the Front Desk. I answered phones, greeted residents and their visitors, and did some administrative work. It was such a great experience. Observing this firsthand, I am so proud of the relationships that our staff have built with residents and how much they truly care for one another. Their level of Service Excellence never ceases to amaze me.

At the end of the day, it takes a group effort to fulfill our Christian mission of Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest. It is clear to me, that our entire staff works together each day to accomplish this important mission. From dining to nursing, to housekeeping, maintenance, and activities, the LSS team works hard and works with a servant attitude towards our residents. Thank you for all that you do. We are blessed to be a blessing.
