Now Available: Telemedicine for Work Related Injuries

It’s late in your shift and while helping a resident you pull a muscle in your shoulder. You know you might need to see a doctor but you aren’t looking forward to driving to a clinic and perhaps waiting to see the doctor. Good news – you might be able to be treated without leaving your workplace.

Now when you and your supervisor call into Medcor’s Workers’ Comp triage service, you may be offered a new option of meeting with a physician via video chat through Medcor’s Telemedicine Service. This chat would be similar to a FaceTime or Skype call. All you need is a smartphone or a laptop with video call capabilities, an active email address, and a quiet location.

Telemedicine calls are answered by the physician within 15 minutes. Before meeting with the physician, the injured employee will talk with a Patient Care Navigator who will also remain on the call with the physician to help facilitate next steps. These may include prescriptions, restrictions or modified duty, referrals for any physical therapy, or further treatment needed.

The health and safety of LSS team members is important to LSS – this new option for work related injuries provides an efficient and convenient way for LSS employees to get quality treatment in a timely manner.
