“Recently a resident of Meramec Bluffs had to go to the hospital for a procedure.  The family member of this resident contacted Meramec Bluffs after a nurse at the Hospital had told her how friendly and kind the nurse, Paula Swaringen, at Meramec Bluffs had been.  The nurse at the hospital stated that she had to call the Meramec Bluffs Care Center for some additional information on the resident. The nurse told the residents daughter that she has never had a conversation go so smoothly before. Kudos to Paula for providing excellent customer service!” – Colleen Steiner, ADON


“I wanted to give a shout out to Shelley Bright, Hospice RN. I went for my Wellness Testing and, as the nurse struggled to find a vein, began to have a little anxiety about the blood draw. I turned my head away as I could feel my nerves rising, and my eyes filled with tears. In the back of the testing room, Shelley noticed the look on my face and, without missing a beat, stood up and came over to hold my hand while the blood was taken. She spoke kind words to me and helped calm my nerves, and before I knew it, I was done! I didn’t know Shelley before today, but her compassion for a stranger really touched me. “Dear Catherine,

By now you may have heard that my mother, Ellen, passed away quietly early on August 27 at Manor Grove. She had lived a great long time, but the most meaningful years were those most recently spent within the community at Rose Hill House.

There she was able to mix with others nearer her own age, share experiences with each other and find a community spirit that engaged its residents in many ways and provided a warm, welcoming, and helpful environment.

You, Liz, Vanessa, and all your staff showed consistent concern for the well-being of your residents and you should be justifiably proud of your efforts on their behalf. I would like to thank you on behalf of the Reedy family for all you, your staff, and Lutheran Senior Services did to enrich her life these last several years.

It is with a great degree of respect and admiration that I offer our thanks for your kindness and thoughtfulness during her stay with you.

“I want to point out three Laclede Groves’ employees that have been extremely helpful. Tonight my two TVs did not work and my neighbor’s across the hall also had no TV reception. We had both called Spectrum when an employee told me to call Laclede Groves. I called and Laura Barry answered the phone. She told me what to try and it worked! So both of my TVs and the Spurgeon’s TV are working, thanks to Laura Barry’s advise.

Today I also had my microwave replaced. Leonard, from maintenance had checked it out a few days ago and couldn’t figure out why it was making a loud noise, almost like a gear wasn’t working. The quick service from maintenance certainly is appreciated.

The third incident, involved Maria (from the Lifestyle Enrichment Department). I rarely go to see movies in the theatre, but I wanted to see Meryl Streep in “Florence Foster Jenkins.” The time listed was 1:30PM on the monthly calendar insert. When I went over to the theatre and nobody was in line and also the poster by the door had the time listed as 6:30PM. When you are almost 78, you worry about getting mixed up! Thankfully Maria was able to help us and turns out the calendar had a typo. She was so kind and invited us to stay and watch the movie. She put in the DVD for us and even had subtitles running.

These are the things that make Laclede Groves so special, the people who work here.
